Horse Sense & Human Strengths
Horse-assisted Me Management, Shared Leadership and Curiosity Continuum Workshops
![]() |
Single or multiple day equine events are designed to assist you in developing positive strengths in yourself and with others. The work is done in partnership with specially-trained horses. There is a progressive series of activities between the horses and the humans which leads to a greater sense of connectivity and awareness both in your positive emotions and relationships.
Why Horses? Horses’ brains are not designed for abstract thinking and problem solving abilities. This allows them to be non-judgmental, extremely sensitive and responsive. As prey animals, they are attuned to the environment and have the ability to read and reflect body language, human energy flow, emotional tones and mirror them back to us. Horses teach us patience, gentleness, self-confidence, perceptiveness and awareness.
Lead Facilitator, Ellen Kaye Gehrke PhD, an international organizational development consultant, business professor, and executive coach, has been linking her experience with gentling and training wild mustangs with her leadership, team building, and personal development programs. She is currently conducting research with the HeartMath Research Institute on the psycho-physiological elements of the human-equine bond.
Expected Outcomes:
- Become aware of your psychological strengths.
- Understand how positive emotions lead to positive relationship with self and others.
- Improve your own attention, focus and presence.
- Develop a greater sense of appreciation and connection to the natural world of animals.
Please Note: No experience with horses is required. We are committed to a safe and supportive learning environment. You will be working from the ground only and not riding horses in this program.
